Modesto Nuts Reading Program The Modesto Nuts Reading Program has motivated over 100,000 students to read and achieve their goals since 2002. The Modesto Nuts are committed to continuing this great program and we hope that you will join us this year as we try to reach our goal of 100% participation from Stanislaus County elementary schools. Below is a breakdown of how our Reading Program works. A Modesto Nuts mascot and a front office staff member will visit each school to outline the program for the teachers and motivate the students to read. The 30-minute interactive event is a fun and informative time for everyone involved. Teachers will receive all materials needed for the program at this event. The Modesto Nuts Reading Program will span over a total of four weeks which is allotted by each individual teacher. Because each classroom has its own unique chemistry, each teacher will set their own weekly goals personalized to the needs of their students. For every week a student achieves their goal they will receive a prize with the grand prize being a night out at John Thurman Field, dinner and a pre-game parade. The prizes for the first two goals will be given to the teachers at the kick-off assembly. Upon completion of the third week, teachers are asked to e-mail a class roster with the names of the students that have reached their goal clearly marked. Personalized coupons will then be delivered to the class. After completion of the final goal, students will receive a ticket form for their parent to fill out. This form will give the parents the option of purchasing more tickets for their family. Once we receive the completed forms from each class, we will deliver the tickets to the school representative.
